Happy New Year!

Wow...I hadn't realized, until recently, how long it had been since my last post. And soooo much has happened since then. So, a brief synopsis, if you will:

I began my clinical rotations for my 3rd year of medical school and, to my surprise, found that I was extremely unhappy in the clinical setting. I had aspired to pursue Pediatrics, but found that it did not offer the in-depth relationships that I long for in life. Don't get me wrong, Pediatrics is an extremely rewarding field, but I'd prefer to spend more than 15-20 minutes at a time with kids and their families - especially when they are not feeling well.
I also found myself re-examining my life as a whole. I'd given up so much to pursue a career that I'd become disinterested in. Bottom line: Life Is Too Short!! Thus, I withdrew from medical school and am pursuing other career options...more to come on this later!
It's frustrating trying to re-establish footing in the "real world." I'm looking a job - which I have come to find is no small task - and have recently moved home in an effort to save money while I get on my feet. I have found that society would classify me as a "boomerang kid" because I left home for college only to return years later in the midst of an economic downturn. I prefer the term "homing pigeon." =) I like to fly and explore, but know when it's time to come home for a rest!

New Year's Resolutions (or as I prefer - Solutions):
  • #1 - Find a job.
  • #2 - Make the gym friend rather than foe.
  • #3 - More to Come....
